fix(chat): defer cancellation-time finalization until the task transcript is stable (#5246)
A quick Stop before the agent's first token no longer races a late reply. Started-but-empty cancellations defer the empty/non-empty judgment until the daemon acks its transcript flush (or a grace-period sweeper fires), then settle to a single outcome. Empty outcomes persist a durable, creator-authorized draft restore (fetched/consumed via a dedicated endpoint, reconnect-safe and at-most-once) instead of broadcasting the prompt over the workspace bus. Closes #5219 |

fix(properties): address MUL-4463 review round 1 — mobile CI, option guard, mutation safety, schema tolerance
- mobile: EMPTY_ISSUE_FALLBACK gains the required properties field (mobile
typecheck was the red CI check).
- server: PATCH /api/properties/{id} rejects config updates that remove
select options still referenced by issues (409 with a per-option usage
census via jsonb ?); renames keep ids and pass. Integration test included.
- core: property value mutations are serialized per workspace via mutation
scope, snapshot the bag from detail OR list caches (board surfaces have no
detail cache — the old path overwrote whole bags with one key), roll back
to the snapshot or invalidate on error, and the last settled mutation does
an authoritative detail+catalog invalidate (usage counts reconcile).
- schemas: unknown-shaped property values (future server types) are dropped
per-entry in a preprocess step instead of failing the whole IssueSchema
and blanking lists through parseWithFallback; test updated to lock the
tolerant behavior.
- realtime: reconnect invalidation covers the property catalog; every
issue_properties:changed event also refreshes catalog usage counts.
- ui: number editor accepts decimals (step=any); settings usage count
pluralizes (issue/issues) with CJK-safe plural keys.

- Settings → Properties: definition management mirroring the Labels tab
(list with type badges/option chips/usage counts, create/edit dialog
with option editor, archive/restore, 20-cap indicator). Admin-gated;
members see a read-only catalog.
- Issue detail sidebar: custom properties join the built-in optional
props' progressive disclosure — set values render as rows with
type-appropriate editors (select/multi-select pickers, calendar,
yes/no, inline input for text/number/url), unset ones live in the
same '+ Add property' menu behind a separator. Archived definitions
render read-only until cleared.
- Core: property types, zod schemas (lenient type strings for forward
compat), api client methods, React Query hooks with optimistic
single-key value writes, ws-updaters + realtime wiring for
property:created/updated and issue_properties:changed.
- Locales: en/zh-Hans/ja/ko strings; Issue fixtures gain properties: {}.

fix(chat): reland archived-session unread + mount-race auto-read (MUL-4360) (#5333)
* fix(chat): correct unread — archived sessions + mount-race auto-read (MUL-4360) Reland of #5315, which was reverted by #5332 as collateral in an unrelated release-wide revert (to unwind 162/163 migration BLOCK from other PRs), not for any defect in this code — Howard/Preflight assessed these changes WARN / non-blocking. Restores all three fixes verbatim off current main: - backend: ListAllChatSessionsByCreator derives unread_count=0 / has_unread=false for status='archived' rows via a CASE gate. last_read_at is untouched, so unarchiving restores the true unread state. Single source of truth for every unread surface (quick-chat FAB, sidebar Chat tab, chat-window header, mobile); installed desktop clients benefit with no app update. - frontend: the archive mutation onMutate optimistically zeroes the row's unread so no badge counts a just-archived session in the frame before the refetch lands. Unarchive does not fabricate a count — the true state returns from the server refetch. - frontend: auto-mark-read is deferred a tick and cancelled on cleanup, so a session that is only momentarily active on mount (persisted activeSessionId restored for one frame, then cleared by the URL->store effect) is not marked read; only a session that stays active past the tick is. Verification: sqlc regenerate produces no drift; go test ./internal/handler -run 'TestListChatSessions_ArchivedSessionReportsZeroUnread|TestSetChatSessionArchived_ClearsChannelBinding' passes against a real Postgres; vitest mutations.test.tsx (3) and use-chat-controller.test.tsx (8) pass; core + views typecheck clean. * feat(chat): task-owned direct-chat input batches + explicit no_response outcome (MUL-4351) Direct (web/mobile) chat no longer uses the last-assistant-row as an implicit input cursor. Each direct send now owns an immutable input batch: - agent_task_queue.chat_input_task_id makes a task the owner of the user messages it must consume; the send path creates the task + user message + attachment bindings + session touch in one transaction, and the daemon is notified only after commit. A claim reads exactly that batch, so a message that arrives mid-run belongs to the next task and is never absorbed. - Auto-retry inherits the root input owner and is queued at a bumped priority, created inside FailTask's transaction so no newer chat task can jump ahead. - CompleteTask writes exactly one assistant outcome inside the completion transaction: a normal message, or a visible no_response outcome (with a non-empty English fallback) when the final output is empty. The write failing rolls the completion back and the handler returns 5xx so the daemon retries; the status CAS keeps it idempotent. chat:done carries message_kind. - Web/desktop/mobile render no_response as a localized 'no text reply' state (keeping the tool timeline), suppress Copy, keep it unread, and keep the session-list preview non-blank. - Legacy/channel tasks (chat_input_task_id NULL) keep the trailing-message selector, so a rolling deploy never replays Slack/Lark history. Ported the same guard used for the tab: a self-heal effect that clears a dangling activeSessionId once the sessions list has loaded, and ensureSession only trusts an id that's in the list or has an in-flight optimistic write (hasOptimisticInFlight, reused from use-chat-controller). handleSend seeds the optimistic message + pending task before setActiveSession, so a freshly-created session is never mis-cleared. 2. Floating dropdown bypassed archive-first safety. Its active rows offered a hard-delete, letting the floating window destroy active chats and skip the "archive first, delete only from Archived" model. Active rows now ARCHIVE (reversible, one-click) like ChatThreadList; the floating window offers no hard-delete — unarchive/delete live only in the full Chat page's Archived view (reachable via expand). Removed the now-dead delete-confirm machinery. 3. Orphan user message on archived-agent send. SendChatMessage created the chat_message before EnqueueChatTask, which rejects an archived / runtime-less agent — a stale client would land a user message then get a 500, orphaning it. Added a preflight that checks the session agent's archived / runtime state and returns 409 before any mutation, plus a handler test asserting the send is rejected with no message persisted. During the pending window any list refetch re-presented the deleting workspace as a selectable/current option. Optimistically remove it in onMutate (after cancelling in-flight list fetches), roll the snapshot back in onError so a failed delete restores the workspace alongside the existing error toast, and keep the onSettled invalidate as the server-truth reconcile. Root cause of the original navigate-first ordering was dual ownership of delete handling between the initiating flow and the realtime workspace:deleted handler. - useDeleteWorkspace: no optimistic removal, no rollback; onMutate only marks the delete self-initiated and captures the slug; onSuccess owns storage cleanup; onSettled invalidates. - pending-delete.ts: repurposed from tombstone filter to self-initiated marker; kept on success (suppresses the WS echo), lifted on failure. - use-realtime-sync: workspace:deleted no-ops for self-initiated deletes; it now only serves deletes initiated elsewhere. - workspace-tab: confirm dialog stays open in loading state, navigate only after the DELETE succeeds; failure leaves the user in place with nothing to roll back. Replace throwing useWorkspaceId with workspace?.id + enabled gating (independent crash on external deletes of the current workspace). Known debt: useLeaveWorkspace still navigates before awaiting (member:removed has no self-initiated marker yet). * perf(chat): fix pending-task index mismatch + cut aggregate request storm (MUL-4159) ListPendingChatTasksByCreator was a top DB hotspot. Root cause: the partial index idx_agent_task_queue_chat_pending (migration 040) only covers status IN (queued, dispatched, running), but migration 109 added a fourth in-flight status (waiting_local_directory) that both pending chat queries now filter on. Postgres can only use a partial index when the query predicate is a subset of the index predicate, so the 4-status query stopped using it and degraded to a Seq Scan over the whole agent_task_queue. Implements the reviewed P0-P3 plan in one PR: P0 index fix (split single-statement CONCURRENTLY migrations per repo convention) - 143: CREATE INDEX CONCURRENTLY idx_agent_task_queue_chat_pending_v2 covering all four in-flight statuses (same column list, so GetPendingChatTask still benefits). - 144: DROP the superseded 3-status index, in its own migration. P1 SQL + handler hot path - ListPendingChatTasksByCreator now returns cs.agent_id and states chat_session_id IS NOT NULL so the planner can prove the partial-index subset. - ListPendingChatTasks filters private-agent access against the already-loaded accessible-agent set using the returned agent_id, dropping the extra ListAllChatSessionsByCreator scan on the hot path. - Regenerated sqlc. * feat(slack): single app-level Socket Mode connection routed by team_id (MUL-3666) Reshape the Slack adapter from the stage-3 per-installation Socket Mode model into the multi-tenant B2 connection model: ONE deployment-level Socket Mode connection (app-level xapp- token, env MULTICA_SLACK_APP_TOKEN) receives the Events API stream for every installed workspace and routes each inbound event to its channel_installation by team_id — the existing GetChannelInstallationByAppID routing, unchanged. - AppConnector: the single shared connection (slack/app_connector.go). No leader election — per the design "one (or a few)" connections are fine: each replica opens one, Slack delivers each event to one of them, and the existing (installation, message_id) two-phase dedup guarantees exactly-once processing. Resolves the per-team bot user id (via the same app_id query) to detect/strip @-mentions, since one connection serves many workspaces. - Inbound translation (Events API -> channel.InboundMessage) extracted to slack/inbound.go as free functions parameterized by the per-team bot identity. - channel.go trimmed to the outbound Send-only sender; per-installation config (config.go) no longer carries an app-level token — installs hold only the per-workspace bot token (xoxb-) for outbound, since xapp- can't be OAuth'd. - engine.Supervisor now skips channel types with no registered Factory, so Slack installs (driven by the app-level connector, not per-installation channels) no longer churn the lease/Build loop. - Wiring: router.go builds the connector when MULTICA_SLACK_APP_TOKEN is set; main.go runs it alongside the Supervisor. feat(sidebar): dot the workspace switcher when other workspaces have unread inbox (MUL-3695) (#4577)
Adds a cross-workspace unread summary so the workspace switcher shows the existing brand dot when a workspace OTHER than the active one has unread inbox items. The active workspace's own unread stays on the Inbox nav count to avoid a duplicate signal, and the dot is shared with the pending- invitation indicator. Backend: new GET /api/inbox/unread-summary returns per-workspace unread counts for the user, scoped via a member join so a left workspace can't light the dot. One account-level query instead of N per-workspace inbox fetches. Frontend: schema-guarded api.getInboxUnreadSummary, a single account-level TanStack Query, and a derived "other workspace has unread" boolean in AppSidebar (shared by web + desktop). Inbox WS events (new/read/archived/ batch) and reconnect invalidate the summary, so the dot appears and clears in realtime even for events from a non-active workspace. The per-project issue list rides the filtered myAll cache. Changing an issue's project is a membership change, but the surgical patch (patchIssueInBuckets) is filter-blind and never removes a card that no longer matches the list's project filter — so a moved issue stayed visible in the old project's list until a manual refetch (#4548 / MUL-3669). Root cause: project_id was the only membership-affecting field with no server *_changed flag. The WS handler fell back to diffing project_id against its own cache, which breaks once onMutate has optimistically overwritten the cached value on a local move. - server: stamp project_changed on issue:updated (UpdateIssue + Batch), alongside status_changed / assignee_changed. - events.ts: surface project_changed (optional, additive — old clients ignore). - ws-updaters: prefer the server flag, fall back to the cache diff only when absent (older backend) so a new frontend on an old backend does not regress. - mutations: onSettled invalidates myAll when project_id changed — a local safety net that never depends on the WS echo (update + batch). Tests: WS flag wins over a matching cache (local-move repro), explicit false suppresses the legacy diff, the cache-diff fallback still fires, and both mutations invalidate myAll on a project change. fix(issues): reconcile board column counts on off-screen status change (#4557)
Board column headers read byStatus[status].total, which #4415 began maintaining purely client-side via patchIssueInBuckets ±1. That patch adjusts the totals only when it can locate the issue in a loaded page, so a status change on an issue outside the loaded window (very common when an agent flips the status of something the viewer never scrolled to) was a silent no-op. #4415 also removed the list invalidation that used to reconcile counts, so the totals drifted until a full reload. Thread the server's status_changed flag through onIssueUpdated and, when a status-changed patch cannot be applied surgically (no-op because the issue is off-screen), refetch just that one list to reconcile its counts. fix(transcript): live-update issue/agent transcript dialog from shared cache (#4452)
The transcript dialog opened from a running task's row showed only a one-shot snapshot taken at open time: TranscriptButton fetched once via api.listTaskMessages and cached it locally, never subscribing to the shared ["task-messages", taskId] cache that the WS task:message stream already seeds. New tool calls / thinking / text never appeared until the task finished or the page reloaded. Add a live-cache mode to the shared TranscriptButton: when isLive and the parent provides no items and the task id is a persisted UUID, render from the shared task-messages cache so the open dialog grows in real time. On open (and again on the running→terminal transition) force a backfill via api.listTaskMessages and merge it into the cache by seq — taskMessagesOptions is staleTime:Infinity, so a plain subscription never heals a WS reconnect gap. The cache observer is read-only (enabled:false) so React Query never blind-replaces the cache; only the WS handler and the seq-merged backfill write it. The subscription mounts only while the dialog is open, so closed live rows add no baseline requests; terminal tasks keep the lazy one-shot fetch. Covers issue execution-log and agent activity. Autopilot issue-less run_only live log is out of scope: the backend doesn't broadcast task:message for tasks with no issue/chat session, so there's nothing to subscribe to — backend broadcast unchanged. Extract mergeTaskMessagesBySeq into packages/core/chat/queries.ts and route both the realtime task:message handler and the new backfill through it, so there is one seq-merge semantics for that cache instead of two. Root cause was three coupled choices in the optimistic path: - board-view never updated local columns on drop for sortBy != "position" (onDragOver is a no-op there), so the card relied on the settle refetch to move across. - useUpdateIssue invalidated the whole list on settle, replacing the column and re-landing the card even on success. - patchIssueInBuckets appended a moved card to the column tail instead of its position slot, so any later cache refresh teleported it to the end. Fixes: - board-view: optimistically move the card into the target column on drop for the non-position path (insertIdByPosition), and reconcile local columns from the cache on settle for both paths (revert on error now that the list is no longer refetched). - mutations: reconcile via onSuccess surgical patch of the returned entity; drop the list/detail invalidation from onSettled (aggregates still flush). - cache-helpers: patchIssueInBuckets inserts the moved/reordered card at its position slot; a plain field update still keeps its slot. The in-app inbox (sidebar badge, real-time WS updates, settings, inbox page) was already shared and worked on web. The only Desktop-only piece was the native OS banner: handleInboxNew called desktopAPI.showNotification, which is undefined on web, so no banner fired for new inbox items while the app was unfocused. Add the browser equivalent, keeping handleInboxNew as the single decision point (focus + source-workspace mute gating stays shared with desktop): - packages/core/platform/system-notification.ts: browser Notification engine (showWebNotification) + permission helpers + a click-handler registry. Lives in core (the caller does) but injects the click-routing decision so core stays headless. - handleInboxNew: branch desktopAPI (unchanged) → else showWebNotification. - apps/web WebNotificationBridge: registers click routing to the source workspace's inbox (?issue=…), mirroring desktop's DesktopInboxBridge. - Settings → Notifications: web-only opt-in to grant browser permission (hidden on desktop / where the API is unavailable); en/zh-Hans/ja/ko. Permission is an explicit settings opt-in (no auto-prompt on load, per browser best practice). Tests cover the engine and the web path in handleInboxNew. fix(core): scope inbox notification mute check to the source workspace (#3821)
Follow-up to #3797. The inbox:new handler keys the notification-preference query on item.workspace_id, but the request itself still resolved its workspace from the active-workspace X-Workspace-Slug header. On a cold cache, a user viewing workspace B who received a workspace-A notification read B's mute setting and cached it under A's key — so A's banners could fire while muted (and vice-versa), polluting A's cache. Add an optional workspaceSlug override to getNotificationPreferences and notificationPreferenceOptions, and pass the resolved source slug from the inbox:new handler. When the source slug can't be resolved, read only an already-warm cache instead of fetching with the wrong workspace. Adds a second project_resource type alongside github_repo so a project
can be pinned to an existing directory on a specific daemon (the v1 of
the local-working-directory flow tracked in MUL-2618). The ref schema is
{ local_path, daemon_id, label? }; local_path must be absolute and
daemon_id is required. The same (daemon_id, local_path) pair is allowed
on multiple projects by design — no UNIQUE constraint is added.
Implementation reuses the existing project_resource API surface: the new
type is wired through the validator switch with no migration, no new
events, and no daemon-handler changes (daemon already passes through
arbitrary resource types via ProjectResources). The CLI gains
--local-path / --daemon-id / --ref-label shortcuts so
`multica project resource add --type local_directory` mirrors the
existing `--type github_repo --url ...` ergonomics; the generic --ref
flag still works for both types.
Tests cover the full CRUD lifecycle, the same-path-across-projects
allowance, the same-path-same-project conflict, the validator rejections
(missing/blank/relative path, missing daemon_id, wrong payload type),
and the cross-platform isAbsoluteLocalPath helper.

- Add PUT /api/projects/{id}/resources/{resourceId} with sqlc query,

ref/label/position are all individually optional.
- Catch same-project (daemon_id, local_path) collisions where only the
embedded label differs — the row-level UNIQUE only matches the full
ref JSON, so a label typo would otherwise let the same working
directory bind twice.
- Tests cover the update lifecycle (label-only / ref / clear / 404 /
invalid path) and the label-shadow conflict on both create and
update; the in-place rename still succeeds because the conflict
scan ignores the row being edited.
Incidental: regenerating sqlc picked up a missing skills_local scan in
UpdateAgentCustomEnv that drifted in from #3200.

- CreateProject inline resources path now dedupes local_directory entries on

full JSON match, so two rows with the same target but different `label`
would otherwise slip past. Standalone POST/PUT already cover this via
findLocalDirectoryConflict; bundled create was the missing surface.
- `multica project resource update` now seeds resource_ref from the existing
row before applying per-type shortcut flags, so `--default-branch-hint x`
on its own no longer constructs a payload missing `url` (which the server
400s on). Local_directory partial edits get the same merge behavior.

button next to the existing GitHub-repo popover. Clicking it opens
Electron's native folder picker, validates the path through a new
IPC pair (existence + r/w), and submits a project_resource of
resource_type=local_directory with daemon_id pulled live from
daemonAPI.getStatus.
- LocalDirectoryRow renders the rename pencil + path tooltip, and
greys out when ref.daemon_id != this machine's daemon_id (with a
"only available on the machine that registered this directory"
tooltip). Delete stays enabled so users can drop stale registrations
from any device.
- LocalDirectoryHint sits above the issue-detail comment composer and
shows "Agent will work in-place at {label} ({path})" when the issue's
project has a local_directory matching this daemon. Hidden on web.
- TaskStatusPill picks up a new "waiting_for_directory_release" stage
that the daemon will publish when it dequeues a task but can't
acquire the path lock. The render is in place now so the daemon
sibling subtask can wire the status string without an additional UI
PR.
Plumbing:
- @multica/core/types gains LocalDirectoryResourceRef +
UpdateProjectResourceRequest, and the api client gets the matching
PUT method backed by the server endpoint that landed in

All mutations are single-key atomic (jsonb_set / `- key`). `UpdateIssue`
intentionally does NOT touch metadata: a whole-blob overwrite would race

tail and forces it to run.
Also drop attempts as a positive example across docs/code comments and
test fixtures — the runtime instruction prompt already lists it under
"What NOT to pin" (runtime bookkeeping). Replace with pr_number, which
is in the recommended-keys set, so docs/tests speak the same language
as the prompt.

Add a new GET /api/squads/{id}/members/status endpoint that returns each
member's derived working/idle/offline/unstable status, the issues each
agent is currently running, and the last observed activity timestamp.
The Squad detail page's Members tab consumes this snapshot to render a
status pill and an active-issue link next to each agent, with live
refresh wired through the existing task/agent/daemon WS events.
Human members are returned with status=null so the UI can keep them in
the same list without implying a presence signal. Archived agents stay
in the response and surface as offline rather than being filtered out.

The WS broadcast message format was {type, payload, actor_id} but missing
actor_type. This meant the web UI could not distinguish agent from human
operations in real-time events at the top level.
While payload data for comments (author_type) and activities (entry.actor_type)
already included the type, the top-level message did not — causing the web UI
to display agent CLI operations as human operations when relying on the
broadcast actor identity.

`chat:session_updated` WS event so other tabs / devices stay in sync, and
rejects blank titles. Frontend mutation is optimistic with rollback,

The chat panel flickered at end-of-turn: live TimelineView unmounted →
short blank + scroll jump → persistent AssistantMessage finally appeared.
Root cause: chat:done's WS handler called setQueryData(pendingTask, {})
synchronously while invalidateQueries(messages) was an async refetch.
The render guard pendingAlreadyPersisted (chat-message-list.tsx:62-68)
expected the persisted message to already be in the messages cache
before pending cleared, but the sync/async ordering broke that guard.
Fix follows TkDodo's "combine setQueryData (active query) + invalidate
(others)" pattern. ChatDonePayload now carries the freshly-persisted
ChatMessage (id, content, elapsed_ms, created_at); the WS handler
writes it into chatKeys.messages BEFORE clearing pending. Same render
tick → AssistantMessage mounts before TimelineView unmounts → no
flicker. invalidate(messages) stays as a fallback for clients that
took the older code path or for content drift (redaction, etc.).
Also slim task:completed's chat branch — chat:done already wrote the
message and cleared pending; task:completed only refreshes the
cross-session pending aggregate that drives the FAB.
Field additions are all `omitempty` / TS `?:` so older clients ignore
them and older servers (no fields populated) fall back to invalidate-
only, preserving prior behavior.

* perf(issues): stop full timeline re-render on every WS event (MUL-1941) Two compounding causes made every Comment/reply WS event re-render every sibling thread on the issue detail page — visible during AI streaming as a flash across all 10 nested replies under a parent and as the green reply-input losing its draft. 1) `useCreateComment.onSettled` invalidated the timeline query, forcing a full `GET /timeline` refetch on every comment submit. The response replaced every entry's reference even when the content was unchanged, poisoning every downstream React.memo. The `comment:created` WS broadcast already keeps the cache fresh and `useWSReconnect` invalidates on disconnect, so the redundant refetch had no upside. Drop it. 2) The `timelineView` useMemo passed the full `repliesByParent: Map` to every CommentCard. Each WS event rebuilt the Map (new ref), so React.memo on CommentCard fell back to a re-render for *every* card, not just the one whose thread changed. Replace the Map prop with a per-thread `replies: TimelineEntry[]` slice, precomputed once via `collectThreadReplies` and stabilized against the prior render — when a thread's flat list is shallow-equal to last time, reuse the previous array reference so unrelated cards keep their memo. ResolvedThreadBar gets the same `replies` prop, so the collapsed count + author list still match the expanded view without re-walking the graph. Verified: pnpm typecheck + pnpm test for @multica/views and @multica/core (334 + 214 tests, all passing). Switch the global handler's `invalidateQueries` to `refetchType: "none"`. Active observers now stay fresh via the granular `setQueryData` handlers in `useIssueTimeline`; inactive issues' caches are still marked stale, so when IssueDetail mounts later, `refetchOnMount` triggers a fresh fetch the same way it did before. `comment:resolved` / `comment:unresolved` previously had no granular handler — only the global invalidate kept the cache in sync. Add useWSEvent handlers in `useIssueTimeline` that replace the matching entry via `commentToTimelineEntry`, and extend that helper to carry the resolved_at / resolved_by_type / resolved_by_id fields so resolved state survives the round-trip (it was silently dropped on every `comment:updated` too — fixed as a side effect). Addresses three review issues from Emacs on PR #2300:
1. TaskService.createAgentComment bypasses Handler.CreateComment, so the
auto-unresolve wired into the handler did not fire when an agent replied
in a resolved thread (task / mention / on_comment paths). Extracted the
logic to TaskService.AutoUnresolveThreadOnReply so both reply paths share
it; rewired Handler.CreateComment to call the new method.
2. Resolving an already-expanded thread no longer collapses it back to the
bar because expandedResolved still contained the id. Added
clearResolvedExpand + handleResolveToggle wrapper so resolve / unresolve
always wipe the session expand entry.
3. ResolvedThreadBar received only direct children, while CommentCard's
expanded view recurses through descendants. Extracted the recursive
walk into thread-utils.collectThreadReplies and called from both —
counts and author lists now match.

The two caches drifted during the WS-invalidate window — visible as "completed → reload → ghost row" flickers — and the History toggle was a redundant entry into the same underlying data. Collapse to one cache (full list, ?status=all) and one entry point (dropdown). The dropdown groups locally into Active / Archived; the archived group is collapsed by default with a count, and per-row delete moves into the dropdown via hover-revealed trash + confirm dialog. Backend stays untouched: old desktop builds still hit GET /chat-sessions without ?status and continue receiving the active subset, so installed clients are unaffected. session — that insert fails after we commit, so it can no longer
produce an orphaned task whose chat_session_id is nulled by
ON DELETE SET NULL. Cancel failure now aborts the delete instead of
warn-and-continue.
- SendChatMessage refuses non-active sessions again. The archive code
path is gone, but legacy rows with status='archived' may still exist
in the DB; keep the guard until we explicitly migrate them.
- Frontend re-reads allChatSessionsOptions to disable ChatInput on
legacy archived sessions so the UX matches the server-side guard.

feat(chat): presence v4 — status pill, failure bubble, elapsed timing (#1856)
A complete UX upgrade for chat sending → receiving → recovering.
* StatusPill replaces the orphan spinner — stage-aware copy
("Reading files · 12s", "Searching the web · 14s", "Typing · 24s"),
shimmer text, monotonic timer, derived effective status, > 60s
warning tone, > 5min cancel button.
* WS writethrough on task:queued / task:dispatch / task:cancelled so
pendingTask cache stays in sync with the daemon state machine without
invalidate-refetch latency. broadcastTaskDispatch now includes
chat_session_id when the task is for a chat session — the existing
payload only carried it on the generic task: events, leaving the pill
stuck at "Queued" until completion.
* Failure fallback — FailTask writes a chat_message tagged with
failure_reason (mirrors the issue path's system comment, gated on
retried==nil). Front-end renders an inline note ("Connection failed",
with a Show details collapsible) instead of the previous black hole.
* Elapsed timing — chat_message.elapsed_ms persists task.completed_at -
task.created_at on success/failure rows. UI shows "Replied in 38s" /
"Failed after 12s" beneath assistant bubbles. Format helper shared
between StatusPill and the persisted caption so the live timer and
final reading never disagree.
* Optimistic burst rebalanced — pendingTask seed + created_at moved
before the HTTP roundtrip so the pill appears the instant the user
hits send; handleStop is fire-and-forget so cancel feels immediate
(server confirmation arrives via task:cancelled WS).
* Presence integration — chat avatars use ActorAvatar (status dot +
hover card); OfflineBanner above the input on offline/unstable;
SessionDropdown shows per-row in-flight/unread pip plus a
cross-session aggregate pip on the closed trigger.
* Editor blur on send so the caret stops competing with the StatusPill
/ streaming reply for the user's attention.
* Chat panel isOpen now persists globally; defaults to OPEN for new
users (storage key absence) so the feature is discoverable. Existing
users' prior choice is respected.
* DB: migrations 062 (failure_reason) + 063 (elapsed_ms), both
ADD COLUMN NULL — fast, non-blocking, backwards compatible.
* WS: task:failed chat path now invalidates chatKeys.messages — fixes
a pre-existing bug where the failure bubble required a page refresh
to appear.
