Instead of treating the descriptor ID as something which has a meaning
which can be verified, treat the ID read from disk as some opaque blob
used solely to identify and tie together specific records from disk.
This removes the usage of the ID for duplication checks or comparison,
and removes the check that the read ID matches a computed ID.
When writing new descriptors to disk, the ID is still calculated from
the old Descriptor ID method for backwards compatibility. But this fact
is opaque to all further usages of the ID.
777aee77d1 refactor: deduplicate keypath element parsing (pythcoiner)
7d8fddfba2 refactor: define BIP32_HARDENED and BIP32_UNHARDENED constants (pythcoiner)
Pull request description:
The codebase used raw `0x80000000` (and implicit `0`) as the bip32 hardened / unhardened flag.
`ParseHDKeypath` and `ParseKeyPathNum` were two separate parsers for BIP32 keypath elements, #32784 aligned their rules (both accept ' and h as hardened marker and reject indexes > 0x7FFFFFFF), but the parsing logic itself was still duplicated.
This PR:
- Define `BIP32_HARDENED_FLAG` / `BIP32_UNHARDENED_FLAG` constants to replace magic `0x80000000` and `0` literals.
- Add `ParseKeyPathElement` as bip32 parsing util and use it consistantly in `ParseHDKeyPath` and the descriptor keypath parser.

A transaction can have several valid witnesses that share its txid but
differ in wtxid, e.g. when a taproot output is spent via the key path
in one variant and the script path in another.
CWalletTx now keeps all of them in a map indexed by wtxid (m_txs) and
marks one as canonical (m_canonical_wtxid): a confirmed variant if there
is one, otherwise the one with a witness and the lowest weight. GetTx()
and serialization return the canonical variant, so existing callers
don't need to change.
The other variants are stored in their own wtxvariant records keyed by
(txid, wtxid) and merged back into the CWalletTx at load. The tx record
keeps its old format, holding the canonical transaction, so older soft
versions can still read and rewrite it without dropping those records.
When loading a transaction, instead of constructing a CWalletTx with no
transaction, pass the DataStream into the constructor so that the
CWalletTx is RAII. This allows us to ensure that the transaction is
never a nullptr so that dereferences, especially once multiple txs are
stored, will not cause a segfault.

Please provide clear motivation for your patch and explain how it improves
Bitcoin Core user experience or Bitcoin Core developer experience
significantly:
* Any test improvements or new tests that improve coverage are always welcome.
* All other changes should have accompanying unit tests (see `src/test/`) or
functional tests (see `test/`). Contributors should note which tests cover
modified code. If no tests exist for a region of modified code, new tests
should accompany the change.
* Bug fixes are most welcome when they come with steps to reproduce or an
explanation of the potential issue as well as reasoning for the way the bug
was fixed.
* Features are welcome, but might be rejected due to design or scope issues.
If a feature is based on a lot of dependencies, contributors should first
consider building the system outside of Bitcoin Core, if possible.
* Refactoring changes are only accepted if they are required for a feature or
bug fix or otherwise improve developer experience significantly. For example,
most "code style" refactoring changes require a thorough explanation why they
are useful, what downsides they have and why they *significantly* improve
developer experience or avoid serious programming bugs. Note that code style
is often a subjective matter. Unless they are explicitly mentioned to be
preferred in the [developer notes](/doc/developer-notes.md), stylistic code
changes are usually rejected.

Avoid storing the privkey in a vector, which could linger in memory
and potentially leak sensitive data. An alternative approach is to
use `secure_allocator` for the `std::vector` instances, but this
commit has the advantage of also deduplicating code at the same shot.

f0a046094e scripted-diff: refactor: CWallet::LoadWallet->PopulateWalletFromDB (David Gumberg)
Pull request description:
This PR is mostly a refactor which splits out logic used for creating wallets and for loading wallets, both of which are presently contained in `CWallet::Create()` into `CWallet::CreateNew()` and `CWallet::LoadExisting()`
The real win of this PR is that `CWallet::Create()` uses a very bad heuristic for trying to guess whether or not it is supposed to be creating a new wallet or loading an existing wallet:
370c592612/src/wallet/wallet.cpp (L2882-L2885)
This heuristic assumes that wallets with no `ScriptPubKeyMans` are being created, which sounds reasonable, but as demonstrated in #32112 and #32111, this can happen when the user tries to load a wallet file that is corrupted, both issues are fixed by this PR and any other misbehavior for wallet files which succeeded the broken heuristic's sniff test for new wallets.
It was already the case that every caller of `CWallet::Create()` knows whether it is creating a wallet or loading one, so we can avoid replacing this bad heuristic with another one, and just shift the burden to the caller.

Writing the wallet's `CLIENT_VERSION` (which indicates the last version
to have touched a wallet) needs to be done on both wallet creation and
wallet loading.
The next commit removes the `PopulateWalletFromDatabase()` call from
wallet creation, but this behavior needs to be preserved, so this commit
factors setting `CLIENT_VERSION` out of `PopulateWalletFromDatabase()`
so that wallet creation can use it in the next commit.
fa4cb13b52 test: [doc] Manually unify stale headers (MarcoFalke)
fa5f297748 scripted-diff: [doc] Unify stale copyright headers (MarcoFalke)
Pull request description:
Historically, the upper year range in file headers was bumped manually
or with a script.
This has many issues:
* The script is causing churn. See for example commit 306ccd4, or
drive-by first-time contributions bumping them one-by-one. (A few from
this year: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/32008,
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/31642,
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/32963, ...)
* Some, or likely most, upper year values were wrong. Reasons for
incorrect dates could be code moves, cherry-picks, or simply bugs in
the script.
* The upper range is not needed for anything.
* Anyone who wants to find the initial file creation date, or file
history, can use `git log` or `git blame` to get more accurate
results.
* Many places are already using the `-present` suffix, with the meaning
that the upper range is omitted.
To fix all issues, this bumps the upper range of the copyright headers
to `-present`.
Further notes:
* Obviously, the yearly 4-line bump commit for the build system (c.f.
b537a2c02a) is fine and will remain.
* For new code, the date range can be fully omitted, as it is done
already by some developers. Obviously, developers are free to pick
whatever style they want. One can list the commits for each style.
* For example, to list all commits that use `-present`:
`git log --format='%an (%ae) [%h: %s]' -S 'present The Bitcoin'`.
* Alternatively, to list all commits that use no range at all:
`git log --format='%an (%ae) [%h: %s]' -S '(c) The Bitcoin'`.
<!--
* The lower range can be wrong as well, so it could be omitted as well,
but this is left for a follow-up. A previous attempt was in
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/26817.

The removed statements were logged up to two or three times for each loaded
wallet. The SQLite version only needs to be logged once.
The full wallet path is dropped, since the existing unconditional
logging while loading wallets is sufficient (also reduces anonymization

The `fsbridge::get_filesystem_error_message()` function exhibits several
drawbacks:
1. It was introduced in https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/14192 to
account for platform-specific variations in
`boost::filesystem::filesystem_error::what()`. Since migrating to
`std::filesystem`, those discrepancies no longer exist.
2. It fails to display UTF-8 paths correctly on Windows.
3. It relies on `std::wstring_convert`, which was deprecated in C++17
and removed in C++26.
This change removes the `fsbridge::get_filesystem_error_message()`
function, thereby resolving all of the above issues.
Additionally, filesystem error messages now use the "Warning" log level.
Legacy wallets do not have the descriptors flag set. Don't load wallets
without the descriptors flag.
At the same time, we will no longer load BDB databases since they are

Due to a bug in earlier versions, some wallets without private keys may
have an encryption key. This encryption key is unused and can lead to
confusing behavior elsewhere. When such wallets are detected, those
encryption keys will now be deleted from the wallet. For safety, we only
do this to wallets which have private keys disabled, have encryption keys,
and definitely do not have encrypted keys.
To prepare for migrating wallets that are not loaded, when migration
occurs in the GUI, it should not rely on a WalletModel existing.
