662d1171d9e29964b039ba4c5bc8a2304426c003 Add option to create an encrypted wallet (Andrew Chow) Pull request description: This PR adds a new `passphrase` argument to `createwallet` which will create a wallet that is encrypted with that passphrase. This is built on #15226 because it needs to first create an empty wallet, then encrypt the empty wallet and generate new keys that have only been stored in an encrypted state. Bitcoin Core
Setup
Bitcoin Core is the original Bitcoin client and it builds the backbone of the network. It downloads and, by default, stores the entire history of Bitcoin transactions, which requires a few hundred gigabytes of disk space. Depending on the speed of your computer and network connection, the synchronization process can take anywhere from a few hours to a day or more.
To download Bitcoin Core, visit bitcoincore.org.
Running
The following are some helpful notes on how to run Bitcoin Core on your native platform.
Unix
Unpack the files into a directory and run:
bin/bitcoin-qt(GUI) orbin/bitcoind(headless)
Windows
Unpack the files into a directory, and then run bitcoin-qt.exe.
macOS
Drag Bitcoin Core to your applications folder, and then run Bitcoin Core.
