This is confusing and brittle, because tests shouldn't silently skip when a config key is missing. Instead, tests should loudly fail, e.g. when the config key is renamed in one place, but not the other.

The current txindex uses the full 32-byte txid as keys, which takes up about 66 GB of disk space today on mainnet. Using a 5-byte key prefix instead drops the disk usage to 26 GB - cutting the size to less than half.
Using the full 32-bytes is unnecessary since a 5-byte salted siphash will produce collisions in about 1 in 1.1 trillion. Some collisions will occur, but the penalty is just an extra disk read, deserialization and hash.
The tx position can be appended to the key instead of used as a value, and a LevelDB iterator can seek to the prefix and then scan for the correct tx. This is an almost identical approach to `txospenderindex`.
Also instead of storing the file position of the block, we can store only the sequence of the connected block and offset of the transaction in the block. This can be packed into a 6-byte key suffix using 3-byte representations of the sequence and offset in the block. The block file can be recovered by the CBlockIndex that is already in memory. The sequence is mapped to the block hash in the db, so we can lookup the block hash to find the CBlockIndex during reads.
If a tx is not found with this method, we fallback to looking up the legacy entry. With this method a user with an existing db can opt to erase the `indexes/txindex` folder and reindex, or keep the current index and new entries will be appended with the smaller footprint.
The time to index was faster on my machine with this method, 1h19m vs current 1h50m.
Lookups are roughly the same, around 0.2ms per lookup with `getrawtransaction`.
When testing on mainnet, I got 894,549 2-way collisions, 395 3-way collision, and 1 4-way collision that worst case could cause an extra 3 false positives when reading.

Adds a `derivehdkey` RPC that returns an xpub, or optionally the xprv, at an arbitrary BIP32 path (with at least one hardened step), derived from a wallet HD key.
The main use case is coordinating a multisig setup, where each participant shares an xpub derived at a hardened path (e.g. `m/87h/0h/0h`) distinct from their default single-signature descriptors. See the (updated) `doc/multisig-tutorial.md` and (updated) functional test to see how that workflow improves.
The first commits are some helpful helpers:
- _key: add DeriveExtKey() helper_ - performs the actual derivation
- _test: move parse_hd_keypath test to bip32_tests_ - from `psbt_wallet_tests`
- _Have ParseHDKeypath handle h derivation marker_

This PR adds test coverage for migrating legacy Bitcoin Core wallets from v0.14.3 (released in 2017) to the descriptor wallet format. The test validates that users can safely upgrade their wallets while preserving all funds, transaction history, and addresses.
This test was originally developed on top of #32977, as it was requested in reviews.
However, since it also increases test coverage, it can be merged independently.
The test covers two wallet migration scenarios:
* Non-HD Wallet Migration - Tests migration of non-HD wallets (created with `-usehd=0`)
* Single Chain HD Wallet Migration - Tests migration of HD wallets from v0.14.3 (`VERSION_HD_BASE`)
The node v0.14.3 cannot be synced using the normal test framework helpers because it does not have the `syncwithvalidationinterfacequeue` RPC, so the test uses `dumb_sync_blocks` to submit blocks from the ancient node to the modern node before migrating the wallet.
Each scenario uses its own dedicated old/new node pair, which keeps the setup isolated and makes this testing best managed in a separate file rather than in the existing migration test files.
On the Windows cross-built CI job, this test is excluded from the main functional test runner and re-run sequentially in an ASCII-only tmpdir, because the v0.14.3 binary cannot handle non-ASCII characters in the temporary directory path.

Per-peer `m_tx_inventory_to_send` queues have CPU and memory costs that scale with both queue size and peer count. Under high transaction volume, this has previously caused severe issues ([May 2023 disclosure][1]) and still can cause measurable delays ([Feb 2026 Runestone surge][2], with the msghand thread observed hitting 100% CPU and queue memory reaching ~95MB).
This PR replaces the per-peer rate limiting with a global queue using dual token buckets (limiting transaction by both count and serialized size). Transactions that arrive within the bucket capacity still relay nearly immediately, but excess transactions queue in a global backlog and drain as the token buckets refill.
Key parameters:
- Count bucket: 14 tx/s, 420 capacity (30s buffer)
- Size bucket: 20 kB/s (~12 MB/600s), 50 MB capacity
- Outbound peers refill faster by a factor of 2.5
Per-peer queues are retained solely for privacy batching and are always fully emptied, removing the old `INVENTORY_BROADCAST_MAX` cap.
This reduces the memory and CPU burden during transaction spikes when the queuing logic is engaged from O(queue * peers) to O(queue), as the queued transactions no longer need to be retained per-peer or re-sorted per-peer.

We suggest to increase the number of inbound slots allocated to block-relay-only peers by increasing the default maximum connections from 125 to 200, with 50% of inbound slots accessible for tx-relaying peers.
This is a prerequisite for being able to increase the default number of outgoing block-relay-only peers later, because the current inbound capacity of the network is not sufficient.
In order to account for incoming tx-relaying peers separately from incoming block-relay peers, changes to the inbound eviction logic are necessary.

This PR adds a machine-readable[ OpenRPC](https://www.open-rpc.org/) 1.4.1 specification of out JSON-RPC interface, auto-generated from existing `RPCHelpMan` metadata.
There is currently no formal, machine-readable specification of the RPC API. As discussed in #29912, this has knock-on consequences:
- Client libraries re-implement the API manually, leading to bugs like unit mistakes (sats vs BTC, vB vs kvB) and missing/incorrect argument types. No existing client library fully and correctly implements the API in a type-safe manner.
- When the API changes, every downstream client must manually discover and adapt, creating downstream maintenance burden. There is no artifact they can diff between releases.
- Implementing a new client in a new language requires reading C++ source or help text and transcribing it, which is error-prone and tedious, and represents an on-going porting cost.
- Existing documentation is either stale or not machine-readable. The developer.bitcoin.org docs are wrong/outdated in places, and the bitcoincore.org/en/doc/ pages are rendered from help output but not in a standard schema format.
- (new/extra) AI/LLM tooling increasingly builds on structured API specifications. A standard spec format enables AI-assisted client generation and integration without the ambiguity of parsing human-readable help text.
This draft builds on prior art by casey and the observations by laanwj, stickies-v, kilianmh, hodlinator, and cdecker in #29912. Casey's work demonstrated that RPCHelpMan already contains all the structured information needed, which makes this feasible without duplicating any API definitions.
This differs from Casey's branches in that it uses the OpenRPC standard rather than an ad-hoc format or raw JSON Schema.
### Why OpenRPC
I seletced OpenRPC for a number of reasons:
- It's purpose-built for JSON-RPC APIs (suggested by stickies-v,nflatrea, and kilianmh).
- It wraps JSON schema for params/results, so consumers get both the method-level structure and the type-level schemas.
- Unlike OpenAPI, it is not path-centric, which better fits our single-endpoint JSON-RPC model (concern raised by hodlinator).
- Although it therefore does not cover our REST interface.
- It's _kind of_ a standard format with (_some_) existing tooling for type generation (TypeScript, Rust, Python, Go) and client scaffolding, though maturity varies by language. More importantly though, IMO, a ~standardised format is inherently more useful than any ad-hoc one: any JSON Schema validator works, any LLM can consume it directly, and anyone can write a bespoke generator against a known schema rather than parsing help text.
### Approach

### Tradeoffs
vs an ad-hoc format OpenRPC gives us interoperability with the (admittedly surprisingly limited) tooling, documentation generators, code generators, and validators, at the cost of needing x-bitcoin-* extensions for Bitcoin-specific concepts. As Casey noted after trying both approaches, JSON Schema "is probably not a great fit". OpenRPC's method-level framing on top of JSON Schema addresses the ergonomic issues while keeping the schema benefits. After testing both, I think I agree.
Types: JSON Schema cannot natively express all Bitcoin-specific semantics. Amount result fields are represented as JSON numbers with `x-bitcoin-unit: amount`; other Bitcoin-specific distinctions remain in descriptions or `x-bitcoin-*` extensions. More structured unit metadata and stronger constraints can be added in follow-up work.
Some RPCs return different types depending on argument values (e.g. verbosity levels). These are represented as `oneOf` in the result schema with free-text condition descriptions. This is accurate but not fully machine-parseable — a code generator cannot automatically determine which result variant corresponds to which argument value without parsing the description. I still we have enough information to satisfy humans an agents alike though.
### Regenerating the spec
The functional test invokes both RPCs, verifies valid JSON, checks public and hidden RPC handling, and covers representative generated schemas. It does not compare a committed generated artifact.
`getopenrpcinfo` omits hidden RPCs and arguments by default; `getopenrpcinfo(true)` includes them. The standard parameterless `rpc.discover` method returns the public document.
The RPC output documents which RPCs are available for any given built binary.
### Discussion questions
- Is this valuable/wanted?
- Do we like openrpc format? (less relevant if we don't want this in this repo, as another repo could generate one or many definitions).
- Should we cover "hidden" RPCs? They are currently hidden, but don't have to be...
My personal thoughts are that this is very nice to have.

is_gui_compiled()/skip_if_no_gui() helpers to BitcoinTestFramework.

The `m_blocks_unlinked` map keeps track of blocks that have transactions but whose parent (or any ancestor) does not. This happens when a block is received before its parent, or during a reorg, when `FindMostWorkChain()` encounters a block whose ancestors were pruned.
The bug this PR addresses is a rare interaction of these two cases, which happens on startup when `BlockManager::LoadBlockIndex()` rebuilds `m_blocks_unlinked`. The check there only considers whether a block has transactions, and pruned blocks keep `nTx > 0` but clear `BLOCK_HAVE_DATA`. So if there's a pruned block on a stale fork whose parent has no transactions, that block is added to `m_blocks_unlinked` without having data on disk. This violates an [assertion](ad3f73862b/src/validation.cpp (L5352)) in `CheckBlockIndex()`.
Get rid of this unintended case by gating on `BLOCK_HAVE_DATA` before adding to `m_blocks_unlinked`.

This PR includes https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/35319 and on top of that adds a regression functional test.
The functional test exercises the relevant code paths without modifying non-test code. To do that it does:
* Add a bunch of IPv4 addresses to the node's addrman (they will be added without P2P_V2 flag).
* Get them to report P2P_V2 in their service flags and connect to each one, so that the flags
in addrman are updated to contain P2P_V2.
* Get one successful connection to a Tor peer (.onion) so that bitcoind assumes the configured
Tor proxy works and is indeed a proxy to the Tor network. This will make it open private
broadcast connections also to IPv4 addresses via that proxy.
* Start some private broadcast connections.
* Remember the destination IPv4 address of the first connection and get it to fail the v2
transport.
* Wait for a subsequent connection also through the Tor proxy to the same IPv4 and expect
it to be v1, i.e. the v2->v1 downgrade retry.
The test fails without the fix - the v1 retry never arrives to the Tor proxy. And passes with the fix. The fix is in the first commit here and in https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/35319, can remove it by `git show fd230f942d | git apply -R`.

The current approach tries to reuse existing code and follows roughly similar design decisions. It replaces the libevent-based async I/O with blocking I/O utilizing the existing `Sock` and `CThreadInterrupt`. The controller runs in a dedicated thread.
There are some optional code modernizations thrown in made along the way (namings, constexpr etc.). These are not strictly necessary but make the end result with the new code more consistent.

This implements an idea from sipa in https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/28722#issuecomment-2807026958 to allow `bitcoin-cli` to connect to the node via IPC instead of TCP, if the ENABLE_IPC cmake option is enabled and the node has been started with `-ipcbind`.
This feature can be tested with:

`shutil.rmtree` is dangerous because it recursively deletes. There are
not likely to be any issues with it's current uses, but it is possible
that some of the assumptions being made now won't always be true, e.g.
about what some of the variables being passed to `rmtree` represent.
For some remaining uses of rmtree that can't be avoided for now, use
`cleanup_dir` which asserts that the recursively deleted folder is a
child of the the `tmpdir` of the test run. Otherwise,
`tempfile.TemporaryDirectory` should be used which does it's own
deleting on being garbage collected, or old fashioned unlinking and
rmdir in the case of directories with known contents.
At the time this was added in #10197, building the test cache took 21
seconds, as described in that PR, but this is no longer true, as
demonstrated by running the functional test framework with and without
the --keepcache arguments on master prior to this commit:

As a consequence, this argument can be removed from the test runner and
this also has the benefit of being able to use an RAII-like
`tempfile.TemporaryDirectory` instead of having to clean up the cache

Adds an outpoint -> txid index, which can be used to find which transactions spent a given output.
We use a composite key with 2 parts (suggested by @romanz): hash(spent outpoint) and tx position, with an empty value.
To find the spending tx for a given outpoint, we do a prefix search (prefix being the hash of the provided outpoint), and for all keys that match this prefix
we load the tx at the position specified in the key and return it, along with the block hash, if does spend the provided outpoint.
To handle reorgs we just erase the keys computed from the removed block.
This index is extremely useful for Lightning and more generally for layer-2 protocols that rely on chains of unpublished transactions.
If enabled, this index will be used by `gettxspendingprevout` when it does not find a spending transaction in the mempool.
Split Mining interface tests into interface_ipc_mining.py and keep
interface_ipc.py for echo + simple inspectors.
Register the new test in test_runner.py.
The setup code around "Create Mining proxy object" is duplicated
in the new test file, but the simple insector checks below it
are not moved.

To improve privacy, broadcast locally submitted transactions (from the `sendrawtransaction` RPC) to the P2P network only via Tor or I2P short-lived connections, or to IPv4/IPv6 peers but through the Tor network.
* Introduce a new connection type for private broadcast of transactions with the following properties:
* started whenever there are local transactions to be sent
* opened to Tor or I2P peers or IPv4/IPv6 via the Tor proxy
* opened regardless of max connections limits
* after handshake is completed one local transaction is pushed to the peer, `PING` is sent and after receiving `PONG` the connection is closed
* ignore all incoming messages after handshake is completed (except `PONG`)
* Broadcast transactions submitted via `sendrawtransaction` using this new mechanism, to a few peers. Keep doing this until we receive back this transaction from one of our ordinary peers (this takes about 1 second on mainnet).
* The transaction is stored in peerman and does not enter the mempool.
* Once we get an `INV` from one of our ordinary peers, then the normal flow executes: we request the transaction with `GETDATA`, receive it with a `TX` message, put it in our mempool and broadcast it to all our existent connections (as if we see it for the first time).
* After we receive the full transaction as a `TX` message, in reply to our `GETDATA` request, only then consider the transaction has propagated through the network and remove it from the storage in peerman, ending the private broadcast attempts.
The messages exchange should look like this:

Whenever a new transaction is received from `sendrawtransaction` RPC, the node will send it to a few (`NUM_PRIVATE_BROADCAST_PER_TX`) recipients right away. If after some time we still have not heard anything about the transaction from the network, then it will be sent to 1 more peer (see `PeerManagerImpl::ReattemptPrivateBroadcast()`).
A few considerations:
* The short-lived private broadcast connections are very cheap and fast wrt network traffic. It is expected that some of those peers could blackhole the transaction. Just one honest/proper peer is enough for successful propagation.
* The peers that receive the transaction could deduce that this is initial transaction broadcast from the transaction originator. This is ok, they can't identify the sender.

The ctest target `bench_sanity_check` has many issues:
* With sanitizers enabled, it is one of the slowest targets, often taking several minutes. See https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/32770#issuecomment-2984264066.
* There is no insight from ctest into how long each individual sanity check takes.
* On a timeout, or OOM issue, there is no insight into which sub-bench failed. The failure will generally just look like `75/153 Test #9: bench_sanity_check ...................***Failed 770.84 sec out of memory`
* Places that can't use ctest (like the Windows-cross CI task) have to explicitly run it, or risk forgetting to run it.
* All benchmarks are run sequentially, when they could run in parallel instead.
Both issues can lead to CI timeouts and leave CPU unused during testing.
Fix all issues by running it as part of the functional tests instead. This is similar to the rpcauth tests (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/32881) and util tests [bitcoin-tx, and bitcoin-util] (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/32697).

Test that a node sends a self-announcement with its external IP to
in- and outbound peers after connection open and again sometime later.
Since the code for the test is mostly the same for addr and addrv2
messages, I opted to add a new test file instead of having duplicate
code in p2p_addr_relay.py and p2p_addrv2_relay.py.

The encoding arg is confusing, because it is not applied consistently
for all IO.
Also, it is useless, as the majority of files are ASCII encoded, which
are fine to encode and decode with any mode.
Moreover, UTF-8 is already required for most scripts to work properly,
so setting the encoding twice is redundant.
So remove the encoding from most IO. It would be fine to remove from all
IO, however I kept it for two files:
* contrib/asmap/asmap-tool.py: This specifically looks for utf-8
encoding errors, so it makes sense to sepecify the utf-8 encoding
explicitly.
* test/functional/test_framework/test_node.py: Reading the debug log in
text mode specifically counts the utf-8 characters (not bytes), so it
makes sense to specify the utf-8 encoding explicitly.

[Reopening #28676 here as a new PR, because GitHub is slow to load the page making it hard to scroll through and see comments. Also, that PR was originally opened with a prototype implementation which has changed significantly with the introduction of `TxGraph`.]
This is an implementation of the [cluster mempool proposal](https://delvingbitcoin.org/t/an-overview-of-the-cluster-mempool-proposal/393).
This branch implements the following observable behavior changes:
- Maintains a partitioning of the mempool into connected clusters (via the `txgraph` class), which are limited in vsize to 101 kvB by default, and limited in count to 64 by default.
- Each cluster is sorted ("linearized") to try to optimize for selecting highest-feerate-subsets of a cluster first
- Transaction selection for mining is updated to use the cluster linearizations, selecting highest feerate "chunks" first for inclusion in a block template.
- Mempool eviction is updated to use the cluster linearizations, selecting lowest feerate "chunks" first for removal.
- The RBF rules are updated to: (a) drop the requirement that no new inputs are introduced; (b) change the feerate requirement to instead check that the feerate diagram of the mempool will strictly improve; (c) replace the direct conflicts limit with a directly-conflicting-clusters limit.
- The CPFP carveout rule is eliminated (it doesn't make sense in a cluster-limited mempool)
- The ancestor and descendant limits are no longer enforced.
- New cluster count/cluster vsize limits are now enforced instead.
- Transaction relay now uses chunk feerate comparisons to determine the order that newly received transactions are announced to peers.
Additionally, the cached ancestor and descendant data are dropped from the mempool, along with the multi_index indices that were maintained to sort the mempool by ancestor and descendant feerates. For compatibility (eg with wallet behavior or RPCs exposing this), this information is now calculated dynamically instead.
