Pull request description:
Refactor `CChain` methods (`Contains()`, `Next()`, `FindFork()`) to use references instead of pointers, to minimize the risk of accidental `nullptr` dereference (memory access violation). Also add missing unit tests to the `CChain` class.
The `CChain::Contains()` method (in `src/chain.h`) dereferences its input without checking. The `Next()` method also calls into this with a `nullptr` if invoked with `nullptr`. While most call sites have indirect guarantee that the input is not `nullptr`, it's not easy to establish this to all call sites with high confidence. These methods are publicly available. There is no known high-level use case to trigger this error, but the fix is easy, and makes the code safer.
Changes:
- Add basic unit tests for `CChain` class methods
- Add unit tests for `CChain::FindFork()`
- Change `CChain::Contains()` to take reference
- Change `CChain::Next()` to take reference
- Change `CChain::FindFork()` to take reference
- Change `pindexMostWork` parameter of `ActivateBestChainStep()` to reference
- Rename changed parameters (`* pindex` --> `& index`)
Alternative. A simpler change is to stick with pointers, with extra checks where needed, see #34416 .
This change is remotely related to and indirectly triggered by #32875 .
Further ideas, not considered in this PR:
- Change `InvalidateBlock()` and `PreciousBlock()` to take references.
- Change `CChain` internals to store references instead of pointers
- Change CChain to always have at least one element (genesis), that way there is always genesis and tip.
- Check related methods to return reference (guaranteed non-null) -- `FindFork`, `FindEarliestAtLeast`, `FindForkInGlobalIndex`, `blockman.AddToBlockIndex`, etc.

Replace hard-coded MiB byte conversions (e.g. `1024*1024`, `1<<20`, `1048576`) with the existing `_MiB` literal to improve readability and avoid repeating constants.
In the few spots where arithmetic involves signed values, the result is identical to the previous code assuming those quantities never turn negative.
Also switch to brace init on every declaration assigned from `_MiB`/`_GiB` literals so a future oversized value (e.g. `unsigned int x{4096_MiB}`) becomes a compile error through the C++11 narrowing check instead of silently truncating.
Extend unit tests to cover the 32-bit `size_t` overflow boundary and to assert equivalence for integer and floating-point conversions.

Introduce `operator""_GiB`, sharing the overflow-checked conversion logic with the existing `operator""_MiB`.
Use `1_GiB` in a few existing places where it is a drop-in replacement (e.g. `1024_MiB`, `1<<30`) and extend unit tests to cover boundary behavior.
The `CChain::Contains()` method dereferences its input without checking,
potentially resulting in nullptr-dereference if invoked with `nullptr`.
To avoid this possibility, its input is changed to a reference instead.
Call sites are adapted accoringly, extra nullptr-check is added as
needed.

b8827ce619 net: Fix Discover() not running when using -bind=0.0.0.0:port (b-l-u-e)
Pull request description:
This PR fixes two related issues with address discovery when using explicit bind addresses in Bitcoin Core:
- #31293
- #31336
When using `-bind=0.0.0.0:port` (or `-bind=::`), the `Discover()` function was not being executed because the code only checked the `bind_on_any` flag. This led to two problems:
- The node would not discover its own local addresses if an explicit "any" bind was used.
- The functional test `feature_bind_port_discover.py` would fail, as it expects local addresses to be discovered in these cases.
This PR:
1. Checks both `bind_on_any` and any bind addresses using `IsBindAny()`
Ensures `Discover()` runs when binding to 0.0.0.0 or ::, even if specified explicitly.
2. Ensures correct address discovery
The node will now discover its own addresses when using explicit "any" binds, matching user expectations and fixing the test.
3. Maintains backward compatibility
The semantic meaning of `bind_on_any` is preserved as defined in `net.h`:
> "True if the user did not specify -bind= or -whitebind= and thus we should bind on 0.0.0.0 (IPv4) and :: (IPv6)"
4. Updates the test to use dynamic ports
The functional test `feature_bind_port_discover.py` is updated to use dynamic ports instead of hardcoded ones, improving reliability.

Pull request description:
This drops our dependency on `boost::signals2`, leaving `boost::multi_index` as the only remaining boost dependency for bitcoind.
`boost::signals2` is a complex beast, but we only use a small portion of it. Namely: it's a way for multiple subscribers to connect to the same event, and the ability to later disconnect individual subscribers from that event.
`btcsignals` adheres to the subset of the `boost::signals2` API that we currently use, and thus is a drop-in replacement. Rather than implementing a complex `slot` tracking class that we never used anyway (and which was much more useful in the days before std::function existed), callbacks are simply wrapped directly in `std::function`s.
The new tests work with either `boost::signals2` or the new `btcsignals` implementation. Reviewers can verify
functional equivalency by running the tests in the commit that introduces them against `boost::signals2`, then again with `btcsignals`.
The majority of the commits in this PR are preparation and cleanup. Once `boost::signals2` is no longer needed, it is removed from depends. Additionally, a few CMake targets no longer need boost includes as they were previously only required for signals.
I think this is actually pretty straightforward to review. I kept things simple, including keeping types unmovable/uncopyable where possible rather than trying to define those semantics. In doing so, the new implementation has even fewer type requirements than boost, which I believe is due to a boost bug. I've opened a PR upstream for that to attempt to maintain parity between the implementations.
See individual commits for more details.

This is part of the effort to remove the libevent dependency from our code base: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/31194
The current approach tries to reuse existing code and follows roughly similar design decisions. It replaces the libevent-based async I/O with blocking I/O utilizing the existing `Sock` and `CThreadInterrupt`. The controller runs in a dedicated thread.
There are some optional code modernizations thrown in made along the way (namings, constexpr etc.). These are not strictly necessary but make the end result with the new code more consistent.

This feature can be tested with:
```
build/bin/bitcoin-node -regtest -ipcbind=unix -debug=ipc
build/bin/bitcoin-cli -regtest -ipcconnect=unix -getinfo
```
The -ipconnect parameter can also be omitted, since this change also makes `bitcoin-cli` prefer IPC over HTTP by default, and falling back to HTTP if an IPC connection can't be established.

This increases the default `dbcache` value from `450MiB` to `1024MiB` if:
- `dbcache` is unset
- The system is 64 bit
- At least 4GiB of RAM is detected
Otherwise fallback to previous `450MiB` default.
This should be simple enough to get into v31. The bump to 1GiB shows significant performance increases in #34641. It also alleviates concerns of too high default for steady state, and of lowering the current dbcache for systems with less RAM.
This change only changes bitcoind behavior, while kernel still defaults to 450 MiB.

This fixes ``Assertion `m_node.chainman' failed`` errors first reported
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/33994#issuecomment-3602551596 when
IPC mining methods are called before ChainstateManager is loaded.
The fix works by making the `Init.makeMining` method block until chainstate
data is loaded.
Instead of having the InitAndLoadChainstate function delete and create the
KernelNotifications object each time it is called (it can be called twice when
reindexing) to clear cached state, create it just one time and add a
setChainstateLoaded() method to manage state as it is loaded and unloaded.
This refactoring should make sense by itself to be more explicit about how
KernelNotifications state is cleared, but it's also needed to make outside code
accessing KernelNotifications state (currently just mining code) safe during
node startup and shutdown so the KernelNofications mutex can be used for
synchronization and does not get recreated itself.
There's no change in behavior. This is just a refactoring to avoid a minor
layer violation in init code. The node.init object is intended to return
interface pointers for code outside the node (like wallet and gui code), not
used by node itself to initialize its internal state.
(Motivation for this change is to introduce a MakeMining wait_loaded option in
an upcoming commit that can only be used internally and not set by external
clients.)

This PR adds explicit knowledge of which block data is needed for each index and then checks its availability during startup before initializing the sync process on them.

Pull request description:
This PR adds a new "tx output spender" index, which allows users to query which tx spent a given outpoint with the `gettxspendingprevout` RPC call that was added by https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/24408.
Such an index would be extremely useful for Lightning, and probably for most layer-2 protocols that rely on chains of unpublished transactions.
UPDATE: this PR is ready for review and issues have been addressed:
- using a watch-only wallet instead would not work if there is a significant number of outpoints to watch (see https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/24539#issuecomment-1276595646)
- this PR does not require `-txindex` anymore
We use a composite key with 2 parts (suggested by romanz): hash(spent outpoint) and tx position, with an empty value. Average composite key size is 15 bytes.
The spending tx can optionally be returned by `gettxspendingprevout` (even it `-txindex is not set`).

Adds an outpoint -> txid index, which can be used to find which transactions spent a given output.
We use a composite key with 2 parts (suggested by @romanz): hash(spent outpoint) and tx position, with an empty value.
To find the spending tx for a given outpoint, we do a prefix search (prefix being the hash of the provided outpoint), and for all keys that match this prefix
we load the tx at the position specified in the key and return it, along with the block hash, if does spend the provided outpoint.
To handle reorgs we just erase the keys computed from the removed block.
This index is extremely useful for Lightning and more generally for layer-2 protocols that rely on chains of unpublished transactions.
If enabled, this index will be used by `gettxspendingprevout` when it does not find a spending transaction in the mempool.

Pull request description:
This is the final in a series of PRs that implement the necessary changes for embedding of asmap data into the binary. This last part add the initial asmap data, implements the build changes and adds further documentation.
Currently an asmap file needs to be acquired by there user from some location or the user needs to generate one themselves. Then they need to move the file to the right place in datadir or pass the path to the file as `-asmap=PATH` in order to use the asmap feature. The change here allows for builds to embed asmap data into the bitcoind binary which makes it possible to use the feature without handling of the asmap file by the user. If the user starts bitcoind with `-asmap` the embedded data will be used for bucketing of nodes.
The data lives in the repository at `src/node/data/ip_asn.dat` and can be replaced with a new version at any time. The idea is that the data should be updated with every release. By default the data at that location is embedded into the binary but there is also a build option to prevent this (`-DWITH_EMBEDDED_ASMAP=OFF`). In this case the original behavior of the `-asmap` option is maintained.

The -blockreservedweight startup option should only affect RPC code,
because IPC clients (currently) do not have a way to signal their intent
to use the node default (the BlockCreateOptions struct defaults
merely document a recommendation for client software).
Before this commit however, if the user set -blockreservedweight
then ApplyArgsManOptions would cause the block_reserved_weight
option passed by IPC clients to be ignored. Users who don't set
this value were not affected.
Fix this by making BlockCreateOptions::block_reserved_weight an
std::optional.
Internal interface users, such as the RPC call sites, don't set a
value so -blockreservedweight is used. Whereas IPC clients do set
a value which is no longer ignored.
Test coverage is added.
mining_basic.py already ensured -blockreservedweight is enforced by
mining RPC methods. This commit adds coverage for Mining interface IPC
clients. It also verifies that -blockreservedweight has no effect on
them.

Pull request description:
This is a second slice carved out of #28792. It contains the following changes that are crucial for the embedding of asmap data which is added the following PR in the series (probably this will remain in #28792).
The changes are:
- Modernizes and simplifies the asmap code by operating on `std::byte` instead of bits
- Unifies asmap version calculation and naming (previously it was called version and checksum interchangeably)
- Operate on a `span` rather than a vector in the asmap internal to prevent holding the asmap data in memory twice
- Add more extensive documentation to the asmap implementation
- Unify asmap casing in implemetation function names
The first three commits were already part of #28792, the others are new.
The documentation commit came out of feedback gathered at the latest CoreDev. The primary input for the documentation was the documentation that already existed in the Python implementation (`contrib/asmap/asmap.py`) but there are several other comments as well. Please note: I have also asked several LLMs to provide suggestions on how to explain pieces of the implementation and better demonstrate how the parts work together. I have copied bits and pieces that I liked but everything has been edited further by me and obviously all mistakes here are my own.

* The gui does prefer to set the title based on the caption, but since it the caption is always empty, the fallback will always be used.
Fix all issues by removing it.

This prevents holding the asmap data in memory twice.
The version hash changes due to spans being serialized without their size-prefix (unlike vectors).
Calculate the asmap version only in one place: A dedicated function in util/asmap.
The version was also referred to as asmap checksum in several places. To avoid confusion call it asmap version everywhere.
The caption was empty for all call-sites, so this refactor does not
change any behavior.
Note that noui_ThreadSafeMessageBoxRedirect is test-only, so no end-user
behavior is changed here.
There is only one call-site, which provided an empty caption.
Note that noui_ThreadSafeQuestionRedirect is test-only and currently
entrirely unused, so the logging format string change is not a behavior
change.
This refactor does not change any behavior.
997e7b4d7c init: Fix non-zero code on interrupt (sedited)
Pull request description:
Reported by dergoegge on irc.
An interrupt does not create a failure exit code during normal operation. This should also be the case when interrupt is triggered during initialization. However a failure exit code is currently returned if an interrupt occurs during init. Fix this by making `AppInitMain` return true instead of false on interrupt, which further up the call stack currently sets the `EXIT_FAILURE` code. Also add a check for the interrupt condition during GUI startup. Returning `EXIT_SUCCESS` seems to be the usual behaviour for daemons, see the discussion on IRC for this: https://www.erisian.com.au/bitcoin-core-dev/log-2026-01-08.html#l-146 .

To improve privacy, broadcast locally submitted transactions (from the `sendrawtransaction` RPC) to the P2P network only via Tor or I2P short-lived connections, or to IPv4/IPv6 peers but through the Tor network.
* Introduce a new connection type for private broadcast of transactions with the following properties:
* started whenever there are local transactions to be sent
* opened to Tor or I2P peers or IPv4/IPv6 via the Tor proxy
* opened regardless of max connections limits
* after handshake is completed one local transaction is pushed to the peer, `PING` is sent and after receiving `PONG` the connection is closed
* ignore all incoming messages after handshake is completed (except `PONG`)
* Broadcast transactions submitted via `sendrawtransaction` using this new mechanism, to a few peers. Keep doing this until we receive back this transaction from one of our ordinary peers (this takes about 1 second on mainnet).
* The transaction is stored in peerman and does not enter the mempool.
* Once we get an `INV` from one of our ordinary peers, then the normal flow executes: we request the transaction with `GETDATA`, receive it with a `TX` message, put it in our mempool and broadcast it to all our existent connections (as if we see it for the first time).
* After we receive the full transaction as a `TX` message, in reply to our `GETDATA` request, only then consider the transaction has propagated through the network and remove it from the storage in peerman, ending the private broadcast attempts.
The messages exchange should look like this:
```
tx-sender >--- connect -------> tx-recipient
tx-sender >--- VERSION -------> tx-recipient (dummy VERSION with no revealing data)
tx-sender <--- VERSION -------< tx-recipient
tx-sender <--- WTXIDRELAY ----< tx-recipient (maybe)
tx-sender <--- SENDADDRV2 ----< tx-recipient (maybe)
tx-sender <--- SENDTXRCNCL ---< tx-recipient (maybe)
tx-sender <--- VERACK --------< tx-recipient
tx-sender >--- VERACK --------> tx-recipient
tx-sender >--- INV/TX --------> tx-recipient
tx-sender <--- GETDATA/TX ----< tx-recipient
tx-sender >--- TX ------------> tx-recipient
tx-sender >--- PING ----------> tx-recipient
tx-sender <--- PONG ----------< tx-recipient
tx-sender disconnects
```
Whenever a new transaction is received from `sendrawtransaction` RPC, the node will send it to a few (`NUM_PRIVATE_BROADCAST_PER_TX`) recipients right away. If after some time we still have not heard anything about the transaction from the network, then it will be sent to 1 more peer (see `PeerManagerImpl::ReattemptPrivateBroadcast()`).
A few considerations:
* The short-lived private broadcast connections are very cheap and fast wrt network traffic. It is expected that some of those peers could blackhole the transaction. Just one honest/proper peer is enough for successful propagation.
* The peers that receive the transaction could deduce that this is initial transaction broadcast from the transaction originator. This is ok, they can't identify the sender.

<summary>How to test this?</summary>
Thank you, @stratospher and @andrewtoth!
Start `bitcoind` with `-privatebroadcast=1 -debug=privatebroadcast`.
Create a wallet and get a new address, go to the Signet faucet and request some coins to that address:
```bash
build/bin/bitcoin-cli -chain="signet" createwallet test
build/bin/bitcoin-cli -chain="signet" getnewaddress
```
Get a new address for the test transaction recipient:
```bash
build/bin/bitcoin-cli -chain="signet" loadwallet test
new_address=$(build/bin/bitcoin-cli -chain="signet" getnewaddress)
```
Create the transaction:
```bash
# Option 1: `createrawtransaction` and `signrawtransactionwithwallet`:
txid=$(build/bin/bitcoin-cli -chain="signet" listunspent | jq -r '.[0] | .txid')
vout=$(build/bin/bitcoin-cli -chain="signet" listunspent | jq -r '.[0] | .vout')
echo "txid: $txid"
echo "vout: $vout"
tx=$(build/bin/bitcoin-cli -chain="signet" createrawtransaction "[{\"txid\": \"$txid\", \"vout\": $vout}]" "[{\"$new_address\": 0.00001000}]" 0 false)
echo "tx: $tx"
signed_tx=$(build/bin/bitcoin-cli -chain="signet" signrawtransactionwithwallet "$tx" | jq -r '.hex')
echo "signed_tx: $signed_tx"
# OR Option 2: `walletcreatefundedpsbt` and `walletprocesspsbt`:
# This makes it not have to worry about inputs and also automatically sends back change to the wallet.
# Start `bitcoind` with `-fallbackfee=0.00003000` for instance for 3 sat/vbyte fee.
psbt=$(build/bin/bitcoin-cli -chain="signet" walletcreatefundedpsbt "[]" "[{\"$new_address\": 0.00001000}]" | jq -r '.psbt')
echo "psbt: $psbt"
signed_tx=$(build/bin/bitcoin-cli -chain="signet" walletprocesspsbt "$psbt" | jq -r '.hex')
echo "signed_tx: $signed_tx"
```
Finally, send the transaction:
```bash
raw_tx=$(build/bin/bitcoin-cli -chain="signet" sendrawtransaction "$signed_tx")
echo "raw_tx: $raw_tx"
```

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/21876 Broadcast a transaction to specific nodes
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/28636 new RPC: sendrawtransactiontopeer

Further extensions:
* Have the wallet do the private broadcast as well, https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/11887 would have to be resolved.
* Have the `submitpackage` RPC do the private broadcast as well, [draft diff in the comment below](https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/29415#pullrequestreview-2972293733), thanks ismaelsadeeq!
* Add some stats via RPC, so that the user can better monitor what is going on during and after the broadcast. Currently this can be done via the debug log, but that is not convenient.
* Make the private broadcast storage, currently in peerman, persistent over node restarts.
* Add (optional) random delay before starting to broadcast the transaction in order to avoid correlating unrelated transactions based on the time when they were broadcast. Suggested independently of this PR [here](https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/30471).
* Consider periodically sending transactions that did not originate from the node as decoy, discussed [here](https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/29415#discussion_r2035414972).
* Consider waiting for peer's FEEFILTER message and if the transaction that was sent to the peer is below that threshold, then assume the peer is going to drop it. Then use this knowledge to retry more aggressively with another peer, instead of the current 10 min. See [comment below](https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/29415#issuecomment-3258611648).
* It may make sense to be able to override the default policy -- eg so submitrawtransaction can go straight to the mempool and relay, even if txs are normally privately relayed. See [comment below](https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/29415#issuecomment-3427086681).
* As a side effect we have a new metric available - the time it takes for a transaction to reach a random node in the network (from the point of view of the private broadcast recipient the tx originator is a random node somewhere in the network). This can be useful for monitoring, unrelated to privacy characteristics of this feature.
---
_A previous incarnation of this can be found at https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/27509. It puts the transaction in the mempool and (tries to) hide it from the outside observers. This turned out to be too error prone or maybe even impossible._

`ChainstateManager::IsInitialBlockDownload()` is queried on hot paths and previously acquired `cs_main` internally, contributing to lock contention.
Cache the IBD status in `m_cached_is_ibd`, and introduce `ChainstateManager::UpdateIBDStatus()` to latch it once block loading has finished and the current chain tip has enough work and is recent.
Call the updater after tip updates and after `ImportBlocks()` completes.
Since `IsInitialBlockDownload()` no longer updates the cache, drop `mutable` from `m_cached_is_ibd` and only update it from `UpdateIBDStatus()` under `cs_main`.
Update the new unit test to showcase the new `UpdateIBDStatus()`.

Implement opening `ConnectionType::PRIVATE_BROADCAST` connections with
the following properties:
* Only to Tor or I2P (or IPv4/IPv6 through the Tor proxy, if provided)
* Open such connections only when requested and don't maintain N opened
connections of this type.
* Since this is substantially different than what
`OpenNetworkConnection()` does, open the private broadcast connections
from a different thread instead of modifying `OpenNetworkConnection()`
to also open those types of connections.

Pull request description:
This PR contains the first part of #28608, which tries to make assumeutxo code more maintainable, and improve it by not locking `cs_main` for a long time when the snapshot block is connected, and by deleting the snapshot validation chainstate when it is no longer used, instead of waiting until the next restart.
The changes in this PR are just refactoring. They make `Chainstate` objects self-contained, so for example, it is possible to determine what blocks to connect to a chainstate without querying `ChainstateManager`, and to determine whether a Chainstate is validated without basing it on inferences like `&cs != &ActiveChainstate()` or `GetAll().size() == 1`.
The PR also tries to make assumeutxo terminology less confusing, using "current chainstate" to refer to the chainstate targeting the current network tip, and "historical chainstate" to refer to the chainstate downloading old blocks and validating the assumeutxo snapshot. It removes uses of the terms "active chainstate," "usable chainstate," "disabled chainstate," "ibd chainstate," and "snapshot chainstate" which are confusing for various reasons.

Make Chainstate objects aware of what block they are targeting. This makes
Chainstate objects more self contained, so it's possible for validation code to
look at one Chainstate object and know what blocks to connect to it without
needing to consider global validation state or look at other Chainstate
objects.
The motivation for this change is to make validation and networking code more
readable, so understanding it just requires knowing about chains and blocks,
not reasoning about assumeutxo download states. This change also enables
simplifications to the ChainstateManager interface in subsequent commits, and
could make it easier to implement new features like creating new Chainstate
objects to generate UTXO snapshots or index UTXO data.
Note that behavior of the MaybeCompleteSnapshotValidation function is not
changing here but some checks that were previously impossible to trigger like
the BASE_BLOCKHASH_MISMATCH case have been turned into asserts.
