a34fc8b11a wallet: handle disabled startup settings
Return a persistence failure when dynamic settings are disabled so
wallet operations finish with their existing startup-setting warning.
This avoids an uncaught exception in Qt and RPC errors after the wallet
state has already changed. Keep in-memory and no-op updates unchanged.

ba6c61bbdd fees: add FeeRateEstimatorManager class
Introduce FeeRateEstimatorManager to wrap CBlockPolicyEstimator and
act as the single point of contact for fee rate estimation in the node.

It inherits CValidationInterface so it can register directly with the
validation signals and receive mempool/block events.

Wire it into NodeContext (fee_estimator_man), init, shutdown, the RPC
server utility helpers (EnsureAnyFeeEstimatorMan), and the wallet-facing
interfaces::Chain API.

The Chain method estimateSmartFee is renamed to getFeeRateEstimate and
now returns util::Expected<FeeRateEstimation, FeeRateEstimationError>
instead of CFeeRate, so callers get the full estimation context without
needing FeeCalculation. estimateMaxBlocks is renamed to
maximumFeeEstimationTargetBlocks (still returns the max target).

CBlockPolicyEstimator no longer inherits CValidationInterface; the
manager now receives the mempool/block validation events and forwards
them to the CBlockPolicyEstimator.

2cb6b831e0 fees: add EstimateFeeRate and MaximumTarget to CBlockPolicyEstimator
Introduce that common interface:
- FeeRateEstimatorType identifies the source estimator in a result.
- FeeRateEstimation carries the feerate and returned target of a
  successful estimate; FeeRateEstimationError carries the error
  message alongside a zero-value estimation.
- EstimateFeeRate wraps estimateSmartFee and returns
  util::Expected<FeeRateEstimation, FeeRateEstimationError>.
- MaximumTarget delegates to HighestTargetTracked(LONG_HALFLIFE) so
  callers do not need to know about block policy horizons.

Update call sites in rpc/fees.cpp and node/interfaces.cpp.

A later commit introduces FeeRateEstimatorManager, which selects
between multiple fee rate estimators. To compare estimates and
report which estimator produced them, the manager needs each fee
rate estimator to expose a uniform output, whereas
estimateSmartFee's CFeeRate/FeeCalculation output is specific to
the block policy fee rate estimator.

Pull request description:

  `BlockTemplate.submitSolution` currently returns only a boolean, so IPC mining clients cannot determine why a submission failed without inspecting Bitcoin Core's debug log.

  Returning `reason` and `debug`, as `Mining.submitBlock` already does, lets callers distinguish a concrete block rejection from a duplicate or inconclusive result. Here, `inconclusive` means the method returns failure, but validation did not determine that the submitted block is invalid.

  This follow-up was suggested during the review of #34644:

  This PR:

  - Extracts a shared `SubmitBlock` helper that wraps `ProcessNewBlock` with `SubmitBlockStateCatcher` to capture `BlockValidationState`

  - Makes both methods delegate to the same helper, eliminating duplicated logic

Pull request description:

  For Stratum v2 custom job declaration to be bandwidth efficient, the pool can request[^0] only the transactions that it doesn't know about.

  The spec doesn't specify how this is achieved, but one method is to call the `getrawtransaction` RPC on each transaction id listed in [DeclareMiningJob](https://stratumprotocol.org/specification/06-Job-Declaration-Protocol?query=DeclareMiningJob#644-declareminingjob-client-server) (or a subset if the pool software maintains a cache). Using RPC is inefficient, made worse by the need to make multiple calls. It also doesn't support queuing by witness id (yet, see #34013).

  This PR introduces two new IPC methods:

  - `getTransactionsById()`: takes a list of `Txid`'s
  - `getTransactionsByWitnessID()`: : takes a list of `Wtxid`'s

  Both return a list of serialised transactions. An empty element is returned for transactions that were not found.

  Unlike the RPC counterpart, the IPC methods do not take advantage of `-txindex`. This could be done in a followup. For `Wtxid` that would involve adding a `-witnesstxindex`.

  I thought about having a single (or overloaded) `getTransactions()` that works with both `Txid` and `Wtxid`, but I prefer that clients are intentional about which one they want.

  A unit and functional test cover the new functionality.

  Sv2 probably only needs `getTransactionsByWitnessID()`, but it's easy enough to just add both.

ed75d70fdb refactor: centralize SubmitBlock result handling
Move the accepted/new-block/reason consistency check into SubmitBlock()
so submitBlock() and submitSolution() use the same success criteria.

This keeps duplicate and inconclusive handling in one place, removes the
new_block output parameter from the helper, and makes the helper return
whether the submitted block was accepted as a new valid block.

cbaa1696f3 mining: add reason and debug output to submitSolution
Add reason and debug output parameters to submitSolution, matching
submitBlock. This relays the specific failure reason (e.g.
"bad-version(...)", "bad-witness-nonce-size", "duplicate") to callers
instead of just a bool.

Use a new capnp ordinal for the updated method and keep the old @7 method
as a deprecated entry point returning an explicit error, so old clients do
not decode corrupt result fields and are directed to update.

83f3bc002d mining: clarify SubmitBlock result handling
Make the submitBlock return value explicit and check that it stays
consistent with the BIP22 reason string, so future changes do not return
success with a reason or failure without one.

Report "inconclusive" when no specific block rejection reason is
available. This covers blocks accepted without being connected, and
processing failures where ProcessNewBlock returns false without an
invalid BlockChecked result, for example when ActivateBestChain fails
after BlockChecked reported a valid block.

Also document why no validation-interface queue drain is needed before
unregistering: BlockChecked is emitted synchronously by ProcessNewBlock,
unlike most validation signals.

5b60f69e40 mining: add submitBlock IPC method to Mining interface
Add a submitBlock method to the Mining IPC interface, similar to the
submitblock RPC. This accepts a fully assembled block, validates it, and
if accepted as new, processes it into chainstate.

This is needed for Stratum v2 Job Declarator Server (JDS), where accepted
solutions may correspond to jobs not tied to a Bitcoin Core BlockTemplate.
JDS receives PushSolution fields and reconstructs full blocks; without an
IPC submitBlock method, final submission requires the submitblock RPC.

The method returns detailed status (reason/debug strings) matching the
checkBlock pattern, giving callers enough information to handle
validation failures.

813b4a80d7 refactor: introduce SubmitBlock helper
Introduce a SubmitBlock() helper in node/miner.cpp that wraps
ProcessNewBlock submission and captures validation state through
the BlockChecked callback.

Route submitSolution through the helper before adding any new IPC method.

No behavior change.

3bb6498fb0 mining: store block create options in NodeContext
Read configured mining options once during startup instead of parsing
options like -blockmaxweight each time a block template is generated.

Store the parsed startup options as BlockCreateOptions. Members left unset
keep representing unset options; hardcoded defaults are applied by
FlattenMiningOptions() before the options are used. IPC overrides and node
defaults can then be merged with the same option type used by
BlockAssembler.

4637cd157d mining: reject invalid block create options
Check BlockCreateOptions before block template creation instead of
clamping runtime values. This makes invalid runtime block creation
options, including those passed by IPC mining clients, fail explicitly
instead of silently mining with different values than the caller
requested.

Runtime option validation now uses the same error wording as startup
option validation. Startup validation also rejects -blockmaxweight
values lower than -blockreservedweight instead of allowing them to be
clamped later.

8daac1d6eb mining: add block create option helpers
Move block template defaulting into helper functions for
BlockCreateOptions. FlattenMiningOptions() fills hardcoded defaults and
MergeMiningOptions() overlays defaults without replacing caller-provided
values.

Use the shared option type in BlockAssembler so IPC callers and internal
callers can pass through the same options path. This commit does not
change behavior, except for dropping the "Specified " prefix from startup
option error messages.

Keep the -blockmintxfee ParseMoney check in ReadMiningArgs() instead of
CheckMiningOptions(), because CheckMiningOptions() only sees the parsed
CFeeRate value and not the original string.

Pull request description:

  This drops our dependency on `boost::signals2`, leaving `boost::multi_index` as the only remaining boost dependency for bitcoind.

  `boost::signals2` is a complex beast, but we only use a small portion of it. Namely: it's a way for multiple subscribers to connect to the same event, and the ability to later disconnect individual subscribers from that event.

  `btcsignals` adheres to the subset of the `boost::signals2` API that we currently use, and thus is a drop-in replacement. Rather than implementing a complex `slot` tracking class that we never used anyway (and which was much more useful in the days before std::function existed), callbacks are simply wrapped directly in `std::function`s.

  The new tests work with either `boost::signals2` or the new `btcsignals` implementation. Reviewers can verify
  functional equivalency by running the tests in the commit that introduces them against `boost::signals2`, then again with `btcsignals`.

  The majority of the commits in this PR are preparation and cleanup. Once `boost::signals2` is no longer needed, it is removed from depends. Additionally, a few CMake targets no longer need boost includes as they were previously only required for signals.

  I think this is actually pretty straightforward to review. I kept things simple, including keeping types unmovable/uncopyable where possible rather than trying to define those semantics. In doing so, the new implementation has even fewer type requirements than boost, which I believe is due to a boost bug. I've opened a PR upstream for that to attempt to maintain parity between the implementations.

Pull request description:

  This implements an idea from sipa in https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/28722#issuecomment-2807026958 to allow `bitcoin-cli` to connect to the node via IPC instead of TCP, if the ENABLE_IPC cmake option is enabled and the node has been started with `-ipcbind`.

  This feature can be tested with:

  ```
  build/bin/bitcoin-node -regtest -ipcbind=unix -debug=ipc
  build/bin/bitcoin-cli -regtest -ipcconnect=unix -getinfo
  ```

  The -ipconnect parameter can also be omitted, since this change also makes `bitcoin-cli` prefer IPC over HTTP by default, and falling back to HTTP if an IPC connection can't be established.

Pull request description:

  When the wallet disconnects chain notifications, it is expecting no further notifications to execute, but this is not the case. This results in test failures such as in #34354. Instead of disconnecting the notifications and continuing shutdown, we should wait for the validation interface queue to be drained before the rest of wallet shutdown. This is achieved by adding an `interfaces::Chain::waitForNotifications()` function which calls `SyncWithValidationInterfaceQueue()`.

bbc8f1e0a7 ipc mining: Prevent `Assertion m_node.chainman' failed`` errors on early startup
This fixes ``Assertion `m_node.chainman' failed`` errors first reported
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/33994#issuecomment-3602551596 when
IPC mining methods are called before ChainstateManager is loaded.

The fix works by making the `Init.makeMining` method block until chainstate
data is loaded.

1e82fa498c mining: add interrupt()
Both waitTipChanged() and createNewBlock() can take a long time to
return. Add a way for clients to interrupt them.

The new m_interrupt_mining is safely accessed with a lock on
m_tip_block_mutex, but it has no guard annotation. A more thorough
solution is discussed here:

a11297a904 mining: add cooldown argument to createNewBlock()
At startup, if the needs to catch up, connected mining clients will
receive a flood of new templates as new blocks are connected.

Fix this by adding a cooldown argument to createNewBlock(). When set
to true, block template creation is briefly paused while the best
header chain is ahead of the tip.

This wait only happens when the best header extends the current tip,
to ignore competing branches.

Additionally, cooldown waits for isInitialBlockDownload() to latch to
false, which happens when there is less than a day of blocks left to sync.

When cooldown is false createNewBlock() returns immediately. The argument
is optional, because many tests are negatively impacted by this
mechanism, and single miner signets could end up stuck if no block
was mined for a day.

The getblocktemplate RPC also opts out, because it would add a delay
to each call.

2278f017af ipc mining: remove deprecated methods (incompatible schema change)
This change removes deprecated methods from the ipc mining interface.

Warning: This is an intermediate, review-only commit. Binaries built from it
should not be distributed or used to connect to other clients or servers. It
makes incompatible changes to the `mining.capnp` schema without updating the
`Init.makeMining` version, causing binaries to advertise support for a schema
they do not actually implement. Mixed versions may therefore exchange garbage
requests/responses instead of producing clear errors. The final commit in this
series bumps the mining interface number to ensure mismatches are detected.

Pull request description:

  The first commit renames `getCoinbaseTx()` to `getCoinbaseRawTx()` to reflect that it returns a serialised transaction. This does not impact IPC clients, because they do not use the function name.

  The second commit then introduces a replacement `getCoinbase()` that provides a struct with everything clients need to construct a coinbase. This avoids clients having to parse and manipulate our dummy transaction.

  Deprecate but don't remove `getCoinbaseRawTx()`, `getCoinbaseCommitment()` and `getWitnessCommitmentIndex()`.

  After this change we can drop these deprecated methods, which in turn would allow us to clear the dummy transaction from the `getBlock()` result. But that is left for a followup to keep this PR focussed. See https://github.com/Sjors/bitcoin/pull/106 for an approach.

  Expand the `interface_ipc.py` functional test to document its usage.

48f57bb35b mining: add new getCoinbaseTx() returning a struct
Introduce a new method intended to replace getCoinbaseRawTx(), which
provides a struct with everything clients need to construct a coinbase.
This is safer than providing a raw dummy coinbase that clients then have
to manipulate.

The CoinbaseTx data is populated during the dummy transaction generation
and stored in struct CBlockTemplate.

Expand the interface_ipc.py functional test to document its usage
and ensure equivalence.

d59b4cdb57 mining: rename getCoinbaseTx() to ..RawTx()
This frees up the name getCoinbaseTx() for the next commit.

Changing a function name does not impact IPC clients, as they only
consider the function signature and sequence number.

d9e82299fc refactor: Delete ChainstateManager::IsSnapshotActive() method
IsSnapshotActive() method is only called one place outside of tests and
asserts, and is confusing because it returns true even after the snapshot is
fully validated.

The documentation which said this "implies that a background validation
chainstate is also in use" is also incorrect, because after the snapshot is
validated, the background chainstate gets disabled and IsUsable() would return
false.

Change ChainstateRole parameter passed to wallets and indexes. Wallets and
indexes need to know whether chainstate is historical and whether it is fully
validated. They should not be aware of the assumeutxo snapshot validation

  [Reopening #28676 here as a new PR, because GitHub is slow to load the page making it hard to scroll through and see comments.  Also, that PR was originally opened with a prototype implementation which has changed significantly with the introduction of `TxGraph`.]

  This is an implementation of the [cluster mempool proposal](https://delvingbitcoin.org/t/an-overview-of-the-cluster-mempool-proposal/393).

  This branch implements the following observable behavior changes:

   - Maintains a partitioning of the mempool into connected clusters (via the `txgraph` class), which are limited in vsize to 101 kvB by default, and limited in count to 64 by default.
   - Each cluster is sorted ("linearized") to try to optimize for selecting highest-feerate-subsets of a cluster first
   - Transaction selection for mining is updated to use the cluster linearizations, selecting highest feerate "chunks" first for inclusion in a block template.
   - Mempool eviction is updated to use the cluster linearizations, selecting lowest feerate "chunks" first for removal.
   - The RBF rules are updated to: (a) drop the requirement that no new inputs are introduced; (b) change the feerate requirement to instead check that the feerate diagram of the mempool will strictly improve; (c) replace the direct conflicts limit with a directly-conflicting-clusters limit.
   - The CPFP carveout rule is eliminated (it doesn't make sense in a cluster-limited mempool)
   - The ancestor and descendant limits are no longer enforced.
   - New cluster count/cluster vsize limits are now enforced instead.
   - Transaction relay now uses chunk feerate comparisons to determine the order that newly received transactions are announced to peers.

  Additionally, the cached ancestor and descendant data are dropped from the mempool, along with the multi_index indices that were maintained to sort the mempool by ancestor and descendant feerates. For compatibility (eg with wallet behavior or RPCs exposing this), this information is now calculated dynamically instead.

Pull request description:

  Signal `m_tip_block_cv` when Ctrl-C is pressed or `SIGTERM` is received, the same way it is currently signaled when the `stop` RPC is called. This lets RPC calls like `waitforblockheight` and IPC calls like `waitTipChanged` be interrupted, instead of waiting for their original timeouts and delaying shutdown.

  This issue was reported by plebhash in #33463. These hangs have been present since #30409. A similar bug was also fixed previously in Qt in #18452 and this PR simplifies that fix.

Pull request description:

  This is an attempt to fix #33575 see the issue for background and the usefulness of this feature.

  This PR uses one of the suggested approaches: adding a new `interruptWaitNext()` method to the mining interface.

  It introduces a new boolean variable, `m_interrupt_wait`, which is set to `false` when the thread starts waiting. The `interruptWaitNext()` method wakes the thread and sets `m_interrupt_wait` to `true`.
  Whenever the thread wakes up, it checks whether the wait was aborted; if so, it simply set ` m_interrupt_wait ` to false and return`nullptr`.

  This PR also adds a functional test for the new method. The test uses `asyncio` to spawn two tasks and attempts to ensure that the wait is executed before the interrupt by using an event monitor. It adds a 0.1-second buffer to ensure the wait has started executing.
  If that buffer elapses without `waitNext` executing, the test will fail because a transaction is created after the buffer.
